In line with the previous members of the main 5D series, Mark IV attempts to balance high resolution with low light performance with a newly developed 30.4MP full-frame CMOS sensor, providing a beneficial increase in overall resolution without compromising sensitivity and, thanks to the DIGIC 6+ image processor with which it is combined, offers impressive performance within a native ISO 100-32000 range, which can be extended to ISO 50-102400

Versatility is key with the 5D, as it must be able to tackle landscapes and weddings with the same ease. using a 150,000 pixel RGB + IR measurement sensor, shooters can more comfortably rely on the camera to capture difficult scenes. this sensor also has face detection as well as flicker detection that can ensure adequate exposure in less than ideal lighting situations. along with this, the camera offers an improved continuous shooting rate of 7 fps, making it a great choice for events and action.

High Density Dual Pixel CMOS Lattice AF Systems

Making sure your subject is well defined, the 5D Mark IV incorporates an enhanced high-density lattice AF system, offering 61 phase detection points, with all points sensitive to f/8 and 41 cross type. The center point can operate up to -3 EV to work with extremely dim lighting. compared to previous versions, this sensor has an expanded vertical coverage of 24% on peripherals and 8% in the center to better track and locate subjects in the frame

In addition to advanced tracking and focusing while using the optical finder for still images, Live View and video can now use Dual Pixel CMOS AF in the actual image sensor. This offers 80% coverage of the auto focus phase detection for faster and more precise focusing in these modes. it is ideal for video as users will enjoy a smoother rack focus without the disadvantages normally encountered with contrast based systems. in addition, this works well with touch screen functions, allowing users to just touch to adjust the focus.

DCI 4K video recording

Designed for professional still photography and video recording, the 5D Mark IV supports recording with DCI 4K resolution (4096 x 2160) at 30 fps at 500 Mbps, along with Full HD 1080p capture at 60 fps at 180 Mbps for slow motion playback. When recording in the camera, the 4K video has a sampling 4: 2: 2 and a color depth of 8 bits, while the Full HD 1080p footage has a sampling 4: 2: 0. Uncompressed Full HD 1080p video can also be saved through Full HD 1080p sampling 4: 0

Audio can be recorded using the integrated stereo microphone or an optional external microphone can be used via the 3.5 mm microphone jack. Real-time audio monitoring is also possible via the 3.5 mm headphone jack. 4K video recording also takes advantage of the ability to take 8.8MP still pictures during playback on the rear touchscreen and save them as individual images.

Dual Pixel RAW

First implemented here on the 5D Mark IV, Dual Pixel RAW allows photographers to record all the information that the sensor's unique pixel architecture can offer, providing a way to make fine adjustments after the image is taken. These adjustments include fine focus adjustments that can help you slightly adjust the focus point to highlight additional details, change the contour of the bokeh to improve composition and reduce the ghost effect in your photographs. This requires the use of Canon Photo Photo Professional 4.5 software.

Body Design

• A large 3.2" 1.62 m dot Clear View II LCD monitor is available, with an anti-reflective design for vivid, vivid image reproduction and live display, and its touch interface can be used for intuitive touch control and menu adjustments.

• A dedicated AF mode select button located below the rear joystick provides another way to access settings, allowing quick and intuitive access to commonly changed options.

• Dual CompactFlash and SD memory card slots allow you to expand your file storage capabilities by allowing overflow recording or file type separation within the camera during recording.

• An Intelligent Viewfinder II uses a pentaprism design and offers a brilliant means of viewing. Using the viewfinder, the AF points are highlighted in red for greater visibility in low-light conditions, and the finder can also be set to display a range of other shooting means, such as an electronic level, grid, flicker detection, white balance, metering mode, AF information, and other settings.

• A mirror vibration control system helps minimize mechanical vibration to better ensure sharpness during prolonged exposures or bursts of fast, continuous shooting.

• A robust magnesium alloy body design is sealed against dust and weather to allow work in hostile environments.

Other camera features

• A built-in GPS module allows you to geotag images on the camera as well as automatically synchronize time with the universal time code via satellites. This module is compatible with US GPS, Russian GLONASS and Japanese Michibiki quasi-zenith satellites for extensive assistance coverage.

• Digital Lens Optimizer technology compensates for a range of optical defects in multiple lenses, including chromatic aberration, distortion, peripheral brightness and diffraction, and the camera can store lens data to avoid having to re-record the lenses before each use. The camera can handle this process in real time, delivering JPEG files with the corrections already applied.

• A built-in intervalometer allows the creation of time-lapse images and supports the recording of 1 to 99 consecutive frames at preselected intervals of 1 second to 99 hours, 59 minutes and 59 seconds. Users can also choose to set the camera to unlimited frames.

• Built-in Wi-Fi and NFC connectivity lets you wirelessly share, control, and transfer images with an intelligent device that's compatible with the CS100 Connect Station.
