Lens Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 80-400 mm f / 4.5-5.6G ED VR

Nikon's AF-S NIKKOR 80-400 mm f / 4.5-5.6G ED VR is a versatile telephoto zoom lens that is compatible with FX and DX size image sensors. This lens has a wide zoom range of 80-400 mm, with a DX format equivalent to 120-600 mm, covering long-range and portrait focal lengths to suit work with a variety of subjects. Capture portraits with gently blurred backgrounds and get telephoto close-up of distant subjects with or without tripods.

The lens construction integrates a super ED (Extra Low Dispersion) and four ED glass elements to help minimize chromatic aberrations throughout the zoom range and contribute to greater image sharpness, clarity and color fidelity. The Nano Crystal Coat reduces surface reflections, which helps prevent lens flare and the appearance of ghost images for greater contrast and better light transmission.

Built-in Vibration Reduction image stabilization compensates for the effects of camera shake up to the equivalent of four steps of shutter speed. A dedicated VR tripod configuration is available to produce the sharpest image possible without counteracting the effects of the image stabilization system.

In addition to regular autofocus and manual focus, two other focus modes are available: A / M (automatic priority manual mode) allows an easy transition from autofocus to manual during AF operation, while M / A (manual override autofocus, MF priority) allows you to switch from AF to MF without delay time simply by turning the focus ring. The transition between these focus modes can be made quickly and accurately.

The Silent Wave Motor (SWM) focusing system uses ultrasonic vibrations to provide fast, quiet, smooth and accurate autofocus performance that is ideal for use in video and subject tracking. The internal focusing maintains an overall compact lens form factor, allows for faster performance and allows for closer focusing distance.

Wide telephoto focal range

It covers the widest focal length range of any NIKKOR super telephoto lens. At 80 mm, it is an ideal medium telephoto lens and at 400 mm, it is a powerful super telephoto lens suitable for wildlife and action photography, with or without tripod. When used in DSLR DX format, its 35 mm focal length equivalence is 120-600 mm.

Glass elements ED and Super ED

Extra low super dispersion and four ED glass elements help reduce chromatic aberrations throughout the zoom range and produce a sharper, clearer, more accurate image color.

SIC and Nano Crystal Coatings

Multilayer Super Integrated Coating is applied to individual optical elements, just like Nano Crystal Coat to minimise surface reflections over a wide range of wavelengths and avoid lens flashes and ghosts, resulting in greater overall contrast and light transmission.

Vibration reduction

Built-in image stabilization counteracts the effects of camera shake, allowing you to shoot at shutter speeds up to four times slower than would otherwise be possible.
