Tamron 20mm f / 2.8 Di III OSD M 1: 2 / Sony E Lens
This primary lens is characterized by its unprecedented light weight and advanced performance parameters. It offers the wide viewing angle of an ultra wide angle.
This model has a filter diameter of 67mm and meets Tamron's specifications in terms of size and weight. It also allows shooting from extremely short distances: for the first time in this class of lenses, macro shooting at 1: 2 magnification is possible. The lens housing is sealed from weather (moisture), dirt and Fingerprints on the front lens can be easily removed thanks to the grease and water repellent fluorine coating. It supports Sony's manufacturer-specific camera features such as Fast Hybrid Autofocus or Eye Detection Autofocus, and also offers a host of advanced features that ensure ease of use and fantastic imaging results.
Thanks to the specific arrangement of LD (Low Dispersion) and GM (Asperical Glass Molded) elements, the optical design of the lens, developed with the latest technology, ensures exceptionally high image performance in the entire image area. In this way, the typical distortion of wide-angle lenses is minimized such that any remaining image error can be completely eliminated by in-camera correction. Tamron's acclaimed BBAR (Broadband Anti-Reflection) coating reduces reflections within the lens, effectively minimizing ghosting and lens flare. Thanks to excellent optical imaging performance and camera-based distortion correction, this fixed focal length is suitable for virtually any photographic situation,
Thanks to the overall length of 64mm, it is pleasantly compact and forms a well-balanced unit along with Sony E-mount cameras. The lens has a front extension, but retains its length when focusing, which is beneficial for close-ups. The focus ring is located on the front of the lens, so you can conveniently focus manually using your thumb and index finger.
The autofocus system is based on a quiet OSD (Optimized Quiet Drive) motor. In operation, this is not only much quieter than conventional AF motors, but also focuses on the subject much faster and with greater precision. This is particularly advantageous for video recordings, as no annoying noises are recorded here. Focusing is also performed with outstanding precision when tracking AF from moving subjects. Additionally, the new primary lens supports several manufacturer-specific AF functions for Sony cameras, including fast hybrid autofocus, eye-recognition autofocus, and direct manual focus (DMF).
The bayonet ring and other critical points on the lens housing are sealed against moisture and splashing water. It can be used to take photos outside with the lens, even in adverse weather conditions. The front lens is coated with a layer of grease and water repellent fluorine, ensuring the lens surface is very easy to clean and less susceptible to dirt, such as fingerprints or dirt splatters. This weather protection is particularly important for lenses that allow you to photograph your subject up close.
The new main lens supports many advanced features of mirrorless system cameras **.
