The FE 135 mm f / 1.8 GM from Sony, appreciated for its ability to isolate the focus, is a medium telephoto device characterized by its bright and sophisticated design. The maximum aperture of f / 1.8 excels in low light conditions and also offers greater control over depth of field to work with selective focusing techniques. The advanced optical design incorporates two extra low dispersion elements, including a Super ED element, to reduce chromatic aberrations and an XA element (extreme aspherical), which significantly controls spherical aberrations for a high degree of sharpness and clarity of the image. In addition, a Nano AR coating has been applied to limit the phantom effect and the lens flare to increase contrast and color fidelity when working under intense lighting conditions.

To control the focus, an XD linear motor system is used that is fast and quiet, and also provides more sensitive control for manual focus operation.
