The optical design incorporates several aspherical and low dispersion elements to minimize chromatic and spherical aberrations throughout the zoom range for greater clarity, sharpness and accurate representation. Complementing the optics there is a unique dual-focus system, which uses a linear motor and a stepper motor, to provide especially fast and precise focusing performance. A focus clutch also allows a particularly rapid change between AF and MF settings for tight control.
