This Haida filter of 100 x 150 mm of neutral graded reverse density of hard edge from 0.9 to 0.3 of Haida is compatible with Haida 100 and 100 Pro filter holders. It can be applied to darken the bright skies, specifically during a sunrise or sunset, while allowing a normal exposure, not affected in the other regions of the image.
This filter achieves its effect with a 0.9 band of density across its center that provides a 3-stop reduction in light from entering a lens. This band extends approximately 15mm in both vertical directions. With a soft-edged line of transition, it tapers to a 0.3 density that provides a 1-stop reduction in light at the edge above it. Directly below the 0.9 band of density, it tapers to clear, with a hard-edged line of transition before the clear area.
The placement of a density band of 0.9 that narrows to a density of 0.3 above it with a clear area directly below, allows the Haida 100 x 150 mm PRO II Hard Edge Hard Neutral Graduated Hardness to conform to the positioning of the Sun when it is in, or immediately above, the horizon. In such cases, the sun may appear closer to the center of an image instead of the upper edge, and an increase in brightness is created that is more prominent on both sides of the sun than above it. This reverse graduated neutral density filter PRO II is made of optical glass for clarity and color fidelity and measures 2.0 mm thick. To avoid internal reflections and reflections, each glass surface includes eight layers of multiple coating. These coatings also offer greater protection to the filter substrate and help it stay clean longer than uncoated filters. A padded box is also included with the filter.
