Sigma 14-24mm f / 2.8 DG HSM Art Lens for Canon EF
Combining a versatile range of wide-angle focal lengths with an impressively bright design, the Canon Sigma 14-24 mm f / 2.8 DG HSM EF mount is an Art series zoom, distinguished by its fast constant maximum aperture f / 2.8 to adapt to work in available lighting conditions. With a sophisticated optical design, this lens uses a series of aspherical and low dispersion elements to minimize chromatic and spherical aberrations throughout the zoom range to achieve high sharpness, clarity and color accuracy. A Super Multi-Layer coating also helps suppress lens flare and ghost effect to obtain images with precise and contrast-rich colors in a variety of lighting conditions.
Benefiting the handling, this 14-24 mm is equipped with a Hyper Sonic AF engine with an algorithm optimized for speed and accuracy. The lens also offers a large focus ring with full-time manual override settings for quick adjustments. A rounded 9-sheet diaphragm improves image quality by helping to create a soft bokeh, and the lens is built with a lightweight and durable thermally stable compound. In addition, a built-in lens hood helps to protect the front element and prevent the parasitic light from causing flashes.
As part of the Art line within the Sigma Global Vision series, this lens is designed to achieve truly remarkable optical performance and is ideal for creative and artistic applications.
The wide angle zoom is designed for Canon cameras with full-frame EF mount, however, it is also suitable for APS-C models where it provides an equivalent focal length range of 22.4-38.4 mm.
The constant maximum aperture of f / 2.8 is suitable for working in available light conditions and also provides greater control over depth of field.
Three special low dispersion elements (SLD) and three low dispersion elements F (FLD) significantly reduce chromatic aberrations and color stripes throughout the zoom range to improve clarity and color accuracy.
Three aspherical elements control spherical aberrations and distortion to increase sharpness and accurate representation.
A Super Multi-Layer coating has been applied to the lens elements to minimize flash and ghost images of the lens and contribute to producing images with a lot of contrast and neutral colors, even in backlight conditions.
The integrated HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor) performs a fast and silent autofocus, which is complemented by an optimized AF algorithm to produce smoother focus performance. The HSM also allows full-time manual focus control simply by rotating the focus ring at any time.
The nine-leaf rounded diaphragm contributes to a smooth and pleasant bokeh quality.
The front lens element has been treated with a water and oil repellent coating to benefit work in adverse environmental conditions.
Constructed with a thermally stable composite material (TSC) for greater accuracy and use in wide temperature variations. In addition, a brass bayonet offers improved accuracy and rigidity.
This lens is compatible with the optional Sigma USB base to adjust the different characteristics of the lens and update its firmware.
