Awarded for the event, portrait and sports photography, the Nikon Sigma 70-200mm f / 2.8 DG-mount Nikon sports lens is a flexible telephoto lens characterized by its bright and sophisticated design. The fast maximum constant aperture of f / 2.8 excels in difficult lighting conditions and also offers greater control over depth of field to isolate subjects. With respect to the optical design, 10 impressive low dispersion elements are used to greatly reduce chromatic aberrations and color edges to improve clarity and color accuracy. A super multilayer coating is also offered, which helps suppress the ghost effect and flashes when working in intense lighting conditions.
Complementing the optics, is an intelligent operating system system, which minimizes the appearance of the camera's vibration to get sharper results when the handheld is triggered. A Hyper Sonic engine is also used to provide fast, silent autofocusing performance, along with full-time manual focus override. The physical design of the lens also incorporates several seals to protect against dust and moisture, and a water and oil repellent coating was applied on the exposed elements to prevent moisture, fingerprints or smudges from adhering to the surface.
