Haida 100 x 150 mm Red Diamond Horizon Line Graduated Neutral Density 1.2 Filter (4 steps)

This neutral density 1.2 filter graduated from Haida's 100 x 150mm Red Diamond Horizon line is compatible with the Haida 100 or 100-Pro filter holder. It can be applied to darken the sky, specifically along the horizon during sunrise or sunset, while allowing normal and unaffected exposure in the other regions of the image.

This filter achieves its effect with a 1.2 density band in its central region that provides a reduction of up to 4 stops in the light entering a lens. The density band extends approximately 1.1 "in both vertical directions before tapering to clear below and above, with hard-edged transition lines before clear areas. Cleared areas extend approximately 2.5" until they meet the top and bottom edges filter.

A narrow band of 1.2 density with larger light areas directly above and below allows the Haida 100 x 150mm Red Diamond Horizon Line Graduate Neutral Density 1.2 filter to specifically adapt to the position of the sun when it is on the horizon or immediately above. In such cases, the sun will appear closer to the center of an image as opposed to the top edge, creating an increase in brightness that is much more prominent on both sides of the sun than above or below. This gloss pattern corresponds to the density pattern on the filter. The transition lines marked in this filter are useful for images that present horizons with a difficult transition between heaven and earth.

Haida Red Diamond filters are made of impact resistant optical glass. To prevent ghosting and internal reflections, while further enhancing clarity and color fidelity, each glass surface includes 10 layers of anti-reflective nanolayers. An additional 10 scratch resistant hydrophobic coatings further protect the substrate of this filter and result in an enhanced pearling effect when its surfaces come in contact with water or oil, allowing for more efficient cleaning. Additionally, Haida Red Diamond filters feature rounded edges for easier placement within a compatible filter holder slot.
A metal box is included for storage and transport, as well as a gasket that blocks the light. This gasket forms a seal that is designed to prevent stray light, which could have unwanted effects on exposure, from getting between the filter and the lens behind it.
