RICOH GR III: a compact high-performance digital camera with new components designed for the most demanding photographers
Despite its compact body, smaller than its predecessor, it incorporates a large APS-C sized CMOS image sensor with approximately 24.24 effective megapixels to produce high-resolution images, while its fast power-up speed of Approximately 0.8 seconds, it allows you to point and shoot almost instantly.
Other new features offered are the high-speed hybrid AF system, the newly developed SR (Shake Reduction) stabilization mechanism and the touch screen, which provides intuitive control and improves the operability and functionality of the set. Upon release, the GR III is expected to be updated with future firmware updates to further improve its features and overall performance.
For increased connectivity, the GR III also features a dual wireless communication system and a USB-C connection. All this makes it the highest performance camera in the GR series to date, equipped with the most advanced functions and ready to meet today's photographic demands.
The long-awaited installment of the popular fast and compact camera series, the Ricoh GR III Street Edition continues the legacy of being a pocket-sized powerhouse, offering impressive image quality, fast response and immense portability. With a redesigned set of imaging functions, the GR III incorporates a 24.2MP APS-C CMOS sensor and GR Engine 6 to achieve smooth tonality, vivid colors and high sensitivity from ISO 100-102400, along with the ability to produce high 14-bit resolution DNG photos or Full HD video. Complementing the sensor design is an updated 28mm equivalent prime lens, featuring a bright f / 2.8 design, to accommodate everyday shots with a comfortable and wide field of view. Additionally, for the first time in GR, a 3-axis vibration reduction system compensates for the effects of camera shake to help produce sharper shots when working with slower shutter speeds.
Physically, the GR III appears familiarly compact, but incorporates a redesigned control scheme to promote a larger, more comfortable grip while maintaining easy access to physical controls. A 3.0 "1.037m-dot LCD screen is used for image composition, playback, and menu navigation, and its touchscreen design offers intuitive control along with touch AF capabilities. In addition, built-in Bluetooth LE and Wi-Fi can be used to pair with a mobile device for fast, wireless transfer of files to your smartphone or tablet.
Street Edition
The GR III Street Edition is a signature kit featuring a special edition camera body along with a custom external viewfinder, ring cap, and hand strap.
The camera body has a unique "asphalt-like" surface texture, which is achieved through a multi-layer spray process that provides a smooth but non-slippery feel.
A striking yellow-orange has been chosen as the accent color on the camera ring cap, external viewfinder and leather hand strap. This specific yellow was chosen because it is reminiscent of the traffic lines painted on the streets.
The distinctive power off screen features a specially designed product logo and street view image symbolizing the camera's "street snapshot" concept.
In addition to cosmetic differences, the GR III Street Edition also includes the Full Press Snap feature, which allows you to instantly change the focus point of the lens to a pre-selected position when the shutter button is fully depressed. This function can also be assigned to the rear LCD screen, where you simply touch the touch screen to quickly change focus and bypass the standard AF process, to help intuitively capture fleeting moments.
