Minimized aberrations thanks to its FLD and SLD elements
This lens incorporates one FLD (“F” Low Dispersion) glass element, which offers euivalent performance to fluorite, and three SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass elements to minimize chromatic aberration. In particular, the low dispersion glass elements and optimized power distribution help minimize the chromatic aberration that can affect the telephoto end, and cannot be reduced by adjusting the focus. The result is excellent image quality throughout the zoom range.

Smart OS with updated algorithms
The OS (Optical Stabilized) function features an acceleration sensor to ensure greater precision. It has two OS modes: Mode 1 for general photography and Mode 2 for motorsports and other applications that require tracking. In Mode 2 the acceleration sensor is linked with the intelligent OS and its updated stabilizing algorithm offering effective stability while moving the camera horizontally, vertically or diagonally, regardless of the position of the lens. This feature helps ensure effective tracking and excellent capture of moving subjects.

Zoom lock can be set at any focal length
The new zoom lock switch allows you to lock the zoom ring at any focal length. The focal length desired by the photographer can be set, allowing for stable shooting even when the lens is positioned up or down. This feature is also useful in long exposure photography.

Water and oil repellent coating
The front and back of the elements feature a water and oil repellent coating that is easy to clean and prevents grease from adhering to the surface, even in difficult conditions. This coating also makes it easier to maintain the lens surface.

Dust and splash mount

Two manual focus control modes available
In addition to AF and MF, the MO (Manual Control) option is also available as an option of the Focus Mode Switch. When the switch is in the MO position, the lens can be switched to manual focus just by turning the focus ring - even during continuous AF. In the AF position, full-time manual focus is still available. With the SIGMA USB Dock (sold separately), you can easily customize the degree of gyro sensitivity of MO mode.
