The Canon EOS R50 V mirrorless camera, which offers a compact interchangeable lens option for creators and vloggers, adds UHD 4K60p recording, a vertical tripod mount, and other video features from the EOS Cinema line to a sleek, brick-like body redesigned to enhance video content production.

Improvements of the V series

• In addition to the vertical orientation mounting point, the redesigned body features a front recording button to speed up and simplify the production process.

• The 4K UHD cropped video recording at 60 fps is now available, along with the Slow and Fast modes for creative control over the video's frame rate and playback speed.

• The Dual Pixel CMOS AF II tracking now includes subject recognition algorithms introduced in the R5 Mark II, including people priority registration and automatic detection of people, animals, and vehicles.

• Advanced video functions of the Cinema EOS line, such as Canon Log 3, HLG, PQ, 709 Recording, False Color, and Zebras.

• Automatic exposure and scene modes, and film presets such as Close-up Demo, Soft Skin, and Film IS, as well as color filters.

• The multifunction accessory shoe supports 24-bit and four-channel LPCM audio recording with an external microphone and is compatible with external flashes when taking photographs.

• Four different built-in live streaming modes (UVC via a USB connection, Live Switcher mobile streaming for multicamera setups, HDMI streaming, and Camera Connect streaming through the app) help maximize the reach of the live audience.

24.2 MP APS-C CMOS sensor and DIGIC X processing
With a powerful 24.2 MP APS-C CMOS sensor and a DIGIC X image processor, the R50 V delivers high-resolution images with vivid and accurate colors. Designed to perform in a variety of lighting conditions, this camera offers a flexible ISO range of 100-32000, which can be expanded to ISO 51200. Utilizing the full width of the sensor, it supports oversampled UHD 4K 30p video recording in 6K, as well as Full HD 1080 120p for slow-motion playback. Capable of processing high-speed bursts and high-resolution 4K video, the DIGIC X image processor also supports continuous shooting up to 15 fps via its silent electronic shutter.

Enhanced Dual Pixel CMOS AF II
With 651 high-precision autofocus zones, the advanced Dual Pixel CMOS AF II system provides fast and accurate focusing performance. This phase-detection focusing system offers improved subject detection and tracking, with the ability to intelligently recognize people, animals, and vehicles while automatically locking onto these subjects and maintaining sharp focus during bursts and video captures.

3.0" variable angle touchscreen LCD display
A large 3.0" vari-angle touchscreen with 1.04 million dots provides an intuitive interface for controlling focus points, navigating menus, and reviewing images. This screen also features a vari-angle design to facilitate use when working from high and low angles. When shooting in vertical orientation, the information display and playback can be configured accordingly, with automatic level display also available during recording.

Flexible connectivity

• The wired and wireless connectivity options allow for multiple methods of transferring photos and videos, live streaming, as well as remotely controlling the camera. Physically, the camera features a USB-C port, a micro-HDMI port, and a microphone port for video recording.

• The built-in Bluetooth pairing allows you to easily connect the camera to compatible smart devices using the free Canon Camera Connect app. This low-energy wireless connection helps preserve battery life while providing remote control of the camera.

• The built-in Wi-Fi connectivity enables fast and smooth wireless functions, such as remote live viewing, file viewing, and transfer. With the Canon Camera Connect app, you can also transfer files to your mobile device for browsing and sharing on social media.

• The built-in USB-C allows you to connect the camera to a smartphone or a computer. All the functions of the Canon Camera Connect app that can be used with Wi-Fi are now available when the camera and the smartphone are connected via USB, using a compatible cable for your device.
