Hybrid Phase Detection AF Function

The primary function of the autofocus feature is reliability, as everything is based on the speed and accuracy with which we can capture the protagonists of our frames. In addition to contrast AF, the LUMIX S5II is the first LUMIX mirrorless camera to offer phase detection AF system, which radically improves subject tracking and light recognition performance. The camera can capture the subject even in complex scenes, where multiple subjects are involved, offering precision even in backlit or low-light environments. The number of AF points has been expanded to reach 779. The improved tracking performance allows the camera to continue capturing even small subjects that could easily fall out of the focus point. Even using 1-area AF, the autofocus frame can be set to the level of a single pixel, helping the creator to focus on creativity, relaxing on the technical aspect. Deep learning technology allows for high-speed and precise tracking and recognition of people (faces, eyes, heads, and bodies) and animals.
