For voice recordings, sound effects, and live music, the TASCAM DR-07XP portable recorder captures two tracks of audio at 32-bit floating point and high resolution without the need for external microphones. Its integrated adjustable cardioid condenser microphones can be set to A/B or X/Y to achieve a wide stereo image of the source.

Equally suitable as a portable device, in configurations on a stand or on a camera, the DR-07XP can handle any type of recording, from sampling sessions and recitals to interviews and podcasts.

Flexible power options, such as batteries, USB bus power, or an AC adapter, make the DR-07XP ideal for on-the-go recordings, full-day video recordings, and computer audio production. Need to connect a lapel microphone or an external mixer? The 3.5 mm mini-jack input on the DR-07XP supports mic or line level signals and can provide plug-in power if needed.

Whether you use the built-in microphones or an external source, the selectable modes, such as peak reduction, limiting, and automatic level, offer you options to achieve clean and distortion-free recordings.

With the DR-07XP, the complexities of audio recording are a thing of the past. Easily access all functions from the palm of your hand. Additionally, the backlit LCD screen eliminates the need to squint; just clear and concise navigation any time of the day and in any environment.
Adjustable integrated unidirectional microphones

The built-in condenser microphones of the DR-07XP allow for stereo capture of any source with a sound pressure level of up to 125 dB, so recording a loud concert will not be a problem. The unidirectional (cardioid) microphones can be configured in X/Y or A/B, enabling incredibly clear stereo recordings in any environment.

3.5 mm microphone/line input with plug-in power
For maximum intelligibility and optimal vocal tone, recorders often prefer to use lapel microphones that can be clipped to the interviewee's clothing. The 3.5 mm mini-jack input on the DR-07XP is designed precisely for this situation: connect a lapel microphone (available separately) to the interviewee and then connect it to the 3.5 mm input on the DR-07XP.
Since many lavalier microphones require a small amount of voltage called plug-in power, TASCAM offers a selectable setting to supply plug-in power to the 3.5 mm input.

If you need to record the output of a wireless microphone receiver or an audio mixer, the 3.5 mm input is compatible with your line-level signal input. Since any source connected to the 3.5 mm minijack will override the built-in microphone input, you won't have to navigate through menus to select the appropriate input.

Supports microSDXC cards up to 512 GB
To maximize its compactness and portability, the DR-07XP records directly onto memory cards (available separately). It supports microSD, microSDHC, and microSDXC cards (up to 512 GB capacity) for extended recordings even with high audio resolutions. With a 512 GB card, the DR-07XP can record in stereo for up to 789 hours at 16-bit/44.1 kHz in uncompressed WAV format, compatible with BWF.
3.5 mm line out/headphone jack
To record with the camera and the DR-07XP, simply connect the 3.5 mm mini-jack output of the DR-07XP to the camera's input and use the +/- buttons on the screen to adjust the output level. You can also connect headphones to the 3.5 mm mini-jack for more precise listening. Quick monitor checks can be performed through the DR-07XP's built-in mono speaker.
Functionality of USB audio interface and microphone
Connect the DR-07XP to your Mac/Windows computer or iOS device via USB-C to enjoy real-time bidirectional audio routing. Once recognized and configured, the DR-07XP can be used as a USB microphone or as a two-input, two-output audio interface for your favorite audio software. For more convenient file transfer, the DR-07XP can function as a card reader when connected via USB.
It works with AA batteries, USB, or AC adapter.
With the two included AA alkaline batteries, you can power the DR-07XP for up to 17.5 hours of stereo recording at a resolution of 16-bit/44.1 kHz. For long sessions that require extended recording time, the DR-07X can be powered via a USB connection to a computer or portable battery, or with the TASCAM PS-P520E AC adapter (available separately).
Ideal for portable use or mounted on a tripod.

Designed for optimal portability, the DR-07XP is small and lightweight. Its streamlined design makes it easy to use both in hand and in the pocket. To prevent unintended button presses in these situations, activate the hold switch on the side panel. Use the 1/4"-20 threaded hole at the bottom of the DR-07XP to mount it on a microphone stand or tripod for a stable position.

Integrated level modes and signal processing improve audio quality.
Enhance the sound impact of your audio with the level modes and integrated signal processing of the DR-07XP. Activate the automatic level control to increase or decrease the recording volume when the input sound is too low or high, and activate the limiter to compress the signal before it reaches the distortion point. In rehearsal mode or during recording, the peak reduction function automatically reduces the input gain to an appropriate level.

Mitigate wind noise and low-frequency vibrations by selecting the low-cut filter, which can be adjusted to 40, 80, or 120 Hz. You can even apply a room, studio, or plate reverb preset to the input or output signal. During playback, the highs, mids, and lows can be increased or decreased to achieve a customized output tone.

Selectable recording functions
The DR-07XP offers several recording features that simplify your workflow and prevent you from missing the start of a performance. Once activated, the pre-recording function keeps the DR-05X in standby mode, allowing you to capture up to two seconds of signal before pressing the record button. The DR-07XP can also record in response to the input signal; its automatic recording function can start recording at a user-selectable decibel threshold of -6, -12, -24, or -48. If you are recording an instrument like the piano or drums, use the self-timer to start recording after a set time (5 or 10 seconds).
Non-destructive overdubbing
The overdubbing feature of the DR-07XP is perfect for layering a new performance over an existing track. When overdubbing, you can play an instrument or sing while playing a saved track. Both sounds will be merged into a new file, keeping the original intact.
Tone generator for synchronizing files
An internal tone generator facilitates the synchronization of recorded files with the DR-07XP and the camera. When connecting the DR-07XP to a camera, an adjustable automatic tone is sent to the camera and recorded on the DR-07XP. The resulting tones can be used as a guide when synchronizing the files in video editing software.
