The back-illuminated Exmor™ R APS-C CMOS sensor of the FX30 captures with extraordinary resolution and reduced depth of field. The 6K oversampling compresses a large amount of information into the recording and 4K output, and the BIONZ XR™ processing engine provides natural gradations, realistic color reproduction, and low noise among other improvements.

The S-Cinetone picture profile provides a cinematic effect, skin tones, and other visual aspects immediately, without the need for any color grading in post-production.

The S-Log3 gamma curve is suited for production color and allows exploration of the image sensor's capabilities. Access the wide color gamut of the FX30 and its dynamic range of more than 14 stops to achieve cinematic image quality in color grading during post-production.

Customizable LUTs, both preset and user-defined, can be applied to the FX30's LCD monitor and HDMI output to give you a better and more accurate idea of what the final image will look like.

10-bit 4:2:2 recording offers greater freedom in editing.
The FX30 can internally record 10-bit 4:2:2 video when using Long GOP or All-Intra compression, providing more color information so you can produce more complete and natural gradations in post-production.

Cine EI offers a wide latitude and the highest possible image quality, while Cine EI Quick simplifies the setup by automatically changing the camera's base ISO. Flexible ISO provides the greatest flexibility for exposure settings.

Dual base ISO (ISO800 / ISO2500)
With this function, you can manually set your base ISO to 2500 instead of 800 in low light situations. The noise levels in both settings are more or less the same, so you get cleaner footage in low light.

Slow-motion images of up to 120 fps
With 4K recording at a maximum of 120 fps with autofocus, you can create exceptionally smooth 5x (max.) slow-motion images to expand your storytelling options.

The FX30 offers stable AF and flexible focusing for a wide range of shooting situations. The wide-area AF provides subject tracking across almost the entire frame, with real-time tracking based on Sony's unique AI-based subject recognition. The real-time Eye AF ensures precise focus on the face and eyes, tailored to people, birds, and animals.

The FX30 weighs 646 g with the battery and memory card (951 g with the XLR handle unit) and features a distinctive flat-top design suitable for handheld shooting or mounting on a gimbal. The camera grip is designed to provide optimal flexibility, stability, and comfort for long handheld sessions.

External monitors, recorders, batteries, video lights, extendable grips, wireless microphone receivers, or other accessories can be securely and stably attached to the XLR handle unit of the FX30.

New main menu
Quick access to the most used functions
During capture, the frame rate, shutter speed, and other essential shooting parameters can be accessed through a list-style main menu. The display of the main menu can be assigned to a custom button to quickly check and edit the parameters before capturing. Separate and optimized main menus are provided for photography and video capture.

Slots compatible with CFexpress Type A and SD cards
Type A CFexpress cards are the next standard of compact storage with fast write/read speeds suitable for recording 4K videos at high bit rates. The two slots allow for delayed and simultaneous recording.

High-resolution flexible touchscreen LCD monitor
Multi-angle rear monitor with side opening that allows for a wide freedom of positioning and framing. It is bright enough to be easily seen outdoors during the day and incorporates a quick access function menu.

Extensive connectivity in a compact body
An HDMI Type A connector can be used for recorders and external display devices. Other connectors included are USB Type-C®, Multi/Micro-USB, microphone or headphones, and a multi-interface shoe with integrated digital audio.
