“TINY”, introducing an extremely bright wide-angle lens: the AF 24mm F1.8 FE for Sony full-frame E-mount cameras. The lens is lightweight and compact to perfectly complement the smallest and most cutting-edge cameras on the market.
Samyang's “Tiny” series welcomes a new member with F1.8
The Samyang 24mm F1.8 FE weighing only 230g, is 71mm long and has 11 elements organized into 8 groups. 7 of these lenses are special: 2 ASP, 3 HR, 2 ED. The diaphragm has 9 blades, the filter size is 58mm, and the minimum focusing distance is only 0.19m.
The wide-angle lens with innovative function, specific for Astronomical Photography
A new customizable function (the “Custom Mode”) has been developed for the AF 24mm F1.8 FE that gives indications via an LED light and is specifically designed for astronomical photography. This customizable mode assumes that the factory settings for finding the exact infinity focus may vary from camera to camera. This feature is very handy because it allows you to save and use the right infinity focus for this lens / camera combination at just the right time. This customizable function can be activated via the new “Focus Hold” button to move the focus directly to the proper infinity with a single click. If the focus value is not correct, the LED will glow red. By clicking on the button, if it has been saved correctly before, the focus will be set to the default value and the LED light will turn green.
Taking into account the environment in which astronomical photography is carried out, this function is extremely useful for anyone who waits for a long time in the dark.
Features of the AF 24mm F1.8 FE
Compact and with excellent resolution
Samyang's latest optical technology makes it possible for such a wide-angle lens to present an extremely sharp image from corner to corner, even at its maximum aperture of F1.8. Among its 11 optical elements, which are organized into 8 groups, the 7 special lenses (2 ASP, 3 HR, 2 ED) can be highlighted. These allow you to unleash creativity by offering stunning images with aberrations reduced to an imperceptible minimum. This is why the AF 24mm F1.8 FE is especially attractive for photography of landscapes and night skies, stars, etc.
Depth of field and high F1.8 brightness
The AF 24mm F1.8 FE has a bright F1.8 aperture for excellent focus and smooth background blur. It allows you to perfectly control the depth field, isolating the subject from the background. The 9-blade circular diaphragm contributes to smooth, natural and silky bokeh.
Versatile - ideal for landscapes, night skies and candid shots
The 24mm F1.8 FE offers an 83.7˚ angle of view and a minimum focus distance of just 0.19m. This allows you to move freely in the environment, both outdoors and indoors, creating a very personal perspective, increasing originality and creativity.
Modern, compact and lightweight design
The AF 24mm F1.8 FE only weighs 230g and is 71.5mm long. Being so light and small it is the ideal complement for compact mirrorless cameras, increasing portability. A matte finish with the focal lengths etched on the drum makes it easy to read and orient to the touch for more comfort and dexterity for the photographer. To protect the lens from dust, moisture and snow, it has been sealed in 5 delicate places so you can keep shooting even in bad weather conditions.
Next-generation autofocus - for silent shooting and video recording
Autofocus is quiet and smooth running to capture images quickly and accurately. The AF 24mm F1.8 FE features a state-of-the-art STM (Stepping Motor) stepper motor, which allows a heavier group of lenses to be controlled and moved silently and precisely, thus offering unmatched image quality in both stills and photography. videos.
Maximizing functionality through new features
Customizable focus lock button
If the new focus button is held down, the lens will save the focus distance it is holding. If preferred, the photographer can program other functions for this button through the camera body settings menu.
Customizable photo mode lever
An innovation, which will undoubtedly make the photographer fall in love, is the new lever that allows you to switch between photography modes. It gains a lot of simplicity and an even more intuitive use. Thanks to it, you can set various functions such as Aperture Control Mode or Manual Focus Mode and enjoy a shooting mode that best suits the personal preferences of the photographer. Through future firmware updates it will be possible to add dir more functions.
Customizable mode - NEW function for Astronomical photography
When a photographer enters customizable mode, the LED will blink red and focus will be set directly to the factory setting of infinity. The photographer can save the preferred focus position by holding down the button.
