Hoya 52mm Variable Neutral Density Filter
The Hoya Variable Density Filter uses two layers of polarization to control the amount of light that passes through the filter and enters the camera lens.
At its minimum effect, the filter lets through 1/3 of the light (1.5 stops).
At its maximum effect, the filter lets in 1/400 of the light (9 stops).
Once the filter is mounted on the lens, by turning the ring between "Min" and "Max", you control the amount of light that enters the lens.
With the Hoya Variable Density Filter, it is possible to shoot with very bright optics such as 50mm f / 1.4 at full aperture in bright sunlight for very shallow depth of field or slow shutter speed.
This allows you to create out-of-focus shots of the movement of water, cars, people, or just about anything that moves - the creative possibilities are endless.
The Hoya Variable Density Filter uses high-quality optical glass from Hoya Corporation, the world's largest optical glass manufacturer.
For best results, Hoya recommends using a tripod when shooting with slow shutter speeds.
